Our vision at Robinwood is to make a really positive difference developing children – one of the most worthwhile things that anyone can do in a job!
We have identified the following 6 key ways in which we achieve this really positive difference:
These fairly unique points, we believe, set Robinwood apart from other operators who deliver courses for schools, and are the key reasons why we get outstanding customer feedback and a very high return booking rate.
We also like to make a positive difference in the lives of the staff who work for Robinwood and there are many ways staff can have an impact on the company. Ideas and feedback from staff help Robinwood continually develop and improve.
We have developed our activity programme over many years listening to feedback from teachers and children, to arrive what we believe is the ultimate selection of 15 activity sessions for Key Stage Two.
At our 3 larger centres (Dobroyd Castle, Barhaugh Hall and Maes-y-Nant) we have all activity sessions available on site, so children can pack all 15 activities into their 3 day Robinwood course. We offer ‘taster sessions’, which last around 1 hour and 10 minutes each.
At out first and smallest centre (The Old School) we don’t have extensive activity centre grounds to use and only include 11 different activity sessions in the course. At this centre go up on to the surrounding moorland for bouldering sessions and a themed problem-solving session.
The activities offered within the ultimate Robinwood timetable are;
Archery |
Canoeing |
Caving |
Climbing |
Crate Challenge |
Dungeon |
Giant Swing |
Nightline |
Challenge Course |
Piranha Pool |
Quest |
Team Challenge |
Trapeze |
Zip Wire |
Raft Building |
The programme includes 5 high activities, 3 themed problem solving activities and 2 watersports sessions, together with archery, caving, nightline, challenge course and team challenge. Team challenge is the only session that operates for the whole school together. For all other activity sessions children are split into activity groups with between 9 and 13 children in them.
Archery, Caving, Climbing, Crate Challenge, Dungeon, Piranha Pool, Team Challenge and Trapeze are our indoor sessions. Canoeing, Challenge Course, Giant Swing, Night Line, Quest, Raft Building and Zip Wire generally operate as outdoor sessions. Having the majority of activities taking place indoors is great for year-round operation.
We offer full training in all activity sessions, before new group leaders take charge of groups of children. We also ensure that new staff have plenty of support when they start group leading.
New group leaders are assessed as required to ensure they deliver high quality safe sessions, before taking charge of these sessions without supervision.
Our vision at Robinwood is to make a really positive difference developing children – one of the most worthwhile things that anyone can do in a job! We hope that by listening to staff and investing in their development we can make a positive difference in the lives of those who work for the company.
Robinwood runs various schemes and events with the aim of supporting various charitable causes and the local community.
Everyone who works at Robinwood starts work as a group leader, regardless of their previous experience.
As well as group leading, staff do a number of additional duties including night duties, sitework days, wake-up and bedtime shifts, and some catering shifts. For committed staff with the right qualities there are great career development opportunities for promotion to many positions through the company right up to manager level.
We have an open-minded policy on staff appointments and our values-based selection process means that if you are a positive, enthusiastic and caring person who can really inspire the children we work with, and you would like to be part of an award-winning team, we would very much welcome an application from you!
