Barhaugh Staff Via Ferrata Trip

The staff team at Barhaugh Hall have recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Extreme Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine in the Lake District.

They had a beautiful day for the Via Ferrata at Honister. If you didn’t know already, Via Ferrata is a way of exploring exposed areas on mountains, cliffs, gorges and other hard to get to places using a route of iron (hence the latin name) built into the rock.

They spent a couple of hours working our way around the North side of ‘Black Star’ on Fleetwith Pike using ladders, cargo nets, mine shafts and a very wobbly cable bridge. Some people were more elegant than others on the bridge!

The event finished with a walk up onto the fell top to a fantastic view of Buttermere and Crummock Water. Thanks to the instructors, who were fantastic!
