We really value our staff and invest a lot in making sure we have a happy and fulfilled staff team, as we realise that motivated staff will be the best at delivering really great courses to our customers.
Every year we run many different social and activity events for staff, including start and end of season meals and outdoor expeditions. Organised days out have included paintballing, zoo trips and theme parks visits. Staff can get involved in many ongoing events and classes, such as football, yoga and fitness workshops.
We have the health and wellbeing of staff as a high priority, so offer a cycle to work scheme as well as incentives for staff to walk to work – which benefits the environment as well as staff fitness! We provide an employee assistance programme through which staff have access to telephone counselling and face to face wellbeing consultations.
At Robinwood we don’t provide staff accommodation as we believe it’s much better for well-being if staff are able to choose their own place to live. Our centres are all situated in areas where there is a good supply of affordable rental properties, and we can put staff who wish to house share in touch with each other. We also have ‘accommodation liaison’ members of the Robinwood team for each centre, who will be happy to help with any accommodation queries you may have. We definitely make sure no-one is left homeless!
Meals can be provided at the activity centre, whilst the centre is operating. Staff can opt to pay for whichever meals they choose, with a charge of £1.00 for breakfasts, £1.20 for lunches and £1.50 for evening meals, deducted from wages a month in arrears.
Robinwood uniform consisting of t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, waterproof jackets and trousers, is issued free of charge at the start of employment. A warm outdoor jacket is provided the first Autumn of employment and additional/replacement uniform is issued as required.
When staff have completed at least a year working for Robinwood we have a house purchase assistance scheme in the form of a £3000 loan towards the purchase of a house. As long as staff remain working for Robinwood the loan is gradually reduced until after four years it is written off completely. This has proved a really popular option and many staff take advantage of this deal each year.
Teams of staff make a huge difference developing different aspects of the operation of Robinwood. We have project teams who develop different activity areas, in particular our themed problem solving sessions like piranha pool, quest and the dungeon of doom.
We also have teams who operate on a more permanent basis, covering areas like social events, staff food, environmental issues, staff wellbeing, staff recruitment and social responsibility. Anyone can sign up for a team and we allocate working time for teams to meet and complete projects.
We also like to make a positive difference to charitable causes. Every year Robinwood staff raise thousands of pounds for charity, both individually and through the company. In 2015 the Open Day held for the public at the activity centres raised over £7000, which went to a range of charities nominated by the staff team.

Robinwood staff are employed all year round, on permanent contracts of 35 hours per week with a regular five working days each week and twelve weeks of holiday per year.
Starting salary is £13,923 (£15,015 after the induction year), rising further with time served and responsibility. All staff receive performance bonuses, an annual company profit bonus and a company pension.
